The small bay hotel of Cala Joncols is the perfect hideaway and only a short flight to northern Spain. Located in the ‘Cap De Creus’ Nature Reserve, surrounded by olive trees and away from mass tourism, the Cap is the “the Northernmost part of the ‘Costa Brava’, close to the French border. Walking and cycling routes abound with quite emerald coves waiting to be explored. Cala Joncol is the only hotel in the bay and accessed by unmade road from the town of Rosas. There is a vast range of exhilarating and different dive sites, providing something for everyone, regardless of their qualification levels or experiences. Spectacular Gorgonians and abundant marine life ranging from massive groupers, Barracudas, dragon-fish to colourful nudibranchs and seahorses. Even close encounters with Sun fish (especially end of May/beginning of June) is not unusual. Water temperatures range from 14° to 22°C. Even from the beach, scorpion fish, octopus, squid and occasionally moray eel are encountered. Small sting rays are regularly spotted during night dives.

PADI, SSI and BSAC friendly dive centres with over 30 years experience in the dive industry and 20 centres in seven different countries, Euro-Divers offers professional service, multi-lingual staff, quality equipment and safe diving practice. Daily boat dives leave at 10 am and 4 pm on board diving vessel Fabri De Sau, which accommodates comfortably 35 divers. Night dives usually organised once a week. Shore diving is available from just in front of the hotel. Over 14 dive sites including reef, underwater cliffs and escarpments brimming with life and colour and drift dives. Intro dives for beginners and Bubblemaker course for children from 8 years to Nitrox and Rebreather diving and Instructor courses available.

Hotel Cala Joncols

Location: Just above the pebble & sand beach shore of a small bay with water renowned for it clarity. This quaint, family-run, hotel is surrounded by olive groves and pine trees in the “Cap de Creus” National Park, just north of Golf de Rosas approx one hour from Gerona airport (2 hrs from Barcelona). Access is by unmade road from the busy town of Rosas.

Accomodation: 25 simple yet charming good size rooms with twin or double beds, en-suite shower & wc, balcony or terrace. Seaview rooms and Junior suite/family rooms available.

Facilities: Two restaurants serving excellent Spanish cuisine and fresh seafood, two bars, swimming pool with sunbathing area, sauna, diving centre and regular evening entertainment in the high season. Massage, hiking, fishing, mountain bikes and kayaking also arranged by the hotel.
