diving holidays in Mauritius
The island is very much a cross-roads of civilisations influenced by Asia, Africa and Europe, and, from studying the globe it can be seen why, with east coast of Africa only 1100 miles to the west, India 2500 miles to the north east and Australia 2500 miles to the east, right on the Tropic of Capricorn, south of the Equator.

The Diving
The island of Mauritius is surrounded by approximately 200 species of coral reef systems around the island that are home to approximately 430 different species of fish. Eagle Rays and Green Turtles are present at most of the popular dive sites, and there are also a number of small reef species to catch your eye.
The islands reefs are fairly rugged in nature, with crags, overhangs, caverns and gullies a common feature at most dive sites. The east coast can be exposed to powerful currents and south-easterly trade winds, creating some fairly dramatic diving. However the local diving on Blue Bay, the house reef at the Shandrani Hotel is very well protected, offering easy diving accessible throughout the day for all levels.
Outside Blue Bay there are some superb dives for the more experienced diver. The shipwreck of the Sirius, an Engligh 18th Century warship and the Anemome Garden are just 2 of the amazing dives just a short boat trip away.
