Bali Dive Sites - North East - Bali, Far East & Australia
Bali in Indonesia offer a wide range of dive sites from the north east coas from shallow gentle coral gardens and world class critter diving to fascinating wrecks such as the famous Liberty Wreck in Tulamben National park.
When staying at Alam Anda Dive Spa Resort there are options to visit a range of the Northern coast dive sites in Bali. Most of these can be reached within 20 minutes to 1 hour either by boat or dive centre complimentary shuttle. It is worth travelling that little bit futher to the west to include diving highlights such as Secret Bay and Nusa Menjangan which will take approximately. 2.5 and 3.5 hours. There are also dive spots at Nusa Penida and Padanbai in the south-east of the island which take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours by car or bus. Enjoy taking in the sights and sounds of this beautiful island along the way.
House Reef - Alam Anda Dive Resort
Directly in front of the dive centre at Alam Anda is an excellent house reef system. With 3 different entry and exit points,which cover the wide of the hotel grounds. As one of the very first diving conservation areas in Bali, the intact reef is made up of blocks of coral, plateaus, small drop offs and reef wall with a sandy bottom. Starting at 6m to 50m you can see a variety of hard and soft corals, sponges and gorgionian sea fans. Underwater photographer will enjoy spoting blue spotted ray, leaf and lion fish, moray eel, ghost pipefish, long nose hawk fish, batfish, barracuda, pygmy sea horse, shrimp and nudibranchs. There is a resident family of napolean fish plus occasionally passing eagle ray and spanish dancers at night. Being close to the shore, makes this a suitable snorkelling spot in calm sea conditions.
House Reef - Siddartha Dive Resort
Directly in front of the Siddartha Dive Resort the house reef is approximately 350m width. With 6 entry and exit points the dive staff porters will prepare and bring your equipment to the water's edge and back to the centre. Orientation lines (entries 1 to 4) guide you to the shallow 5-6m for 30 metres with almost continuous coral reef. At 15m the reef starts to drop off on the sandy slope, with numerous blocks of coral to follow during your descent. Spot different moray eels, e.g. zebra, barracuda, mackerel, sting ray, nudibranches and scorpion fish. In the shallower areas follow schools of groupers, fusiliers and sweetlips, spotting scorpion fish, turtle, napoleon wrasse and ghost pipe fish. Not far away the Boga Wreck, sunk in 2012, is 50m in length and can be reached from entry point 6.
Dive Areas - Bali
Tulamben
Probably the most well know of all Bali dives is Tulamben and the Liberty Wreck. These dive sites are only a few minutes by boat from Siddartha (or a 40 minute drive from Alam Anda Dive Resort). The Tulamben Drop Off is a lush, overgrown wall close to the Liberty Wreck, with a drop down to 60m. The Coral Gardens dive site is colourful with huge sponges.
Angels Cayon A favourite of the dive centre with super canyon landscapes and rare, soft corals.
Kubu - Drop Off with variety of soft corals, local octopus and white tip and nurse sharks.
Seraya Regular day trips are offered by car which is a paradise for macro lovers, south of Tulamben.
Secret Bay On request, day trips can be organised by car. Approximate journey time is 3.5 hours from Alam Anda and 4-5 hours from Siddartha.
Other Dive Sites
For those that enjoy drift diving head to Padangbai, around 2 to 2.5 hours then 30 minutes by fast boat to the Nusa Penida dive location.
Nusa Penida Experience currents of up to 30m/minute with excellent intact reef, corals, sponges and large numbers of big and small schooling fish. Mantas are regularly sighte dhere between July and Spetember plus Mola Moals (sunfish).
Secret Bay A regular day dive excursion (by car) to the World Class critter dive spot. One of the diving highlights of Bali.
Nusa Menjangan This underwater conservation area,on the north west coast, offers a diverse range of diving with coral gardens to drop offs. Journey by car from 2.5 to 3 hours plus 40 minutes by boat to the dive spot.
