Sudan, Red Sea & Egypt

If you're looking for uncrowded, untouched and unending choice of pristine dive sites, look no further than Sudan. Located in the southern Red Sea, just south of Egypt, connections are easily provided via Cairo directly to Port Sudan where the MV Andromeda is based.

Schooling fish, mosaic of colourful coral gardens with densly packed soft corals and world class hard coral. This attracts a huge variety of marine life including schooling barracuda, mantas and shark. A mix of Coral Pinnacles, Walls, plateaus, drop offs, cavernous caves and wrecks provide some excellent dive sites and with superb visibility gives the underwater photographer a dazzling choice of shots on every dive.

Some of the best wrecks in the world can be dived in Sudan. The Umbria, one of the most intact World War II wrecks, lies in Port Sudan. With little to no current it starts at 28m rising to the surface. There is much to see, penetration points and swim throughs. The Wreck of the Conshelf II, played host to Jacques Cousteau in the 60's during his famous living underwater dive experiements. Additional wreck sites include The Toyota Wreck or Blue Bell

This is really a destination for advanced divers with at least 50 logged dives due to the varying conditions and number of deep dives sites and prevailing currents. However, very confident beginners with less dives will be able to enjoy most more sheltered spots at shallower depths on the reefs at certain dive sites. However, it is recommended to build experience first in other locations to make the most of diving in Sudan.
