The Pondok Sari Dive Centre is located on the sandy beach at the 3* Pondok Sari Resort, within the grounds of the resort. There are a variety of PADI, SSI and IAC courses available.
Location
The Pondok Sari Dive Centre is located on the sandy beach at the Pondok Sari Resort. The centre is approximately a 3 hour, scenic transfer from the airport in Denpensar in the south to Pemuteran on the north west coast of Bali, where the centre and dive resort is located.
Facilities
The centre has and excellent supply of BCD jackets, regulators with octopus, depth gauge and inflator, masks, fins and snorkels, short and long wetsuits, and a limited supply of dive computers and underwater torches available for rental. There are 130 aluminium tanks (12 litre, DIN + INT), with 12x8 litre aluminium tanks available. Free nitrox is available at the centre for nitrox qualified divers. Rented and private equipment is kept at the dive centre, loaded on and off the boats, rinsed and stored away by the staff. There is a well equipped workshop available for guests. There are 4 fibreglass dive boats which are all equipped with oxygen, a radio and an emergency first aid kit.
Diving
Directly in front of the dive centre there is a virtual coral reef which has a variety of species of coral, the reef project continues along the natural reef which goes down to the depth of 20m. The dive spot is interesting for dives during the day and night. A variety of local dive sites are from 5-30 minutes away by boat including the Bali Barat national park and marine reserve and internationally recognised Menjangan marine park. The sites are located along a 2000m stretch of coastline starting at 4-5m, dropping to depth of 30-40m. The dives offer you the chance to experience corals, macro life, walls and a variety of marine life.
Dive Courses
The centre offers a range of PADI, SSI and IAC qualifications. Introductory dive courses take between 3-5 days, students spend the mornings and afternoons in the water, diving in small groups and the instructor with the last dive from a boat. Courses available include Adventure Advanced Course, Nitrox Course, speciality courses such as Depth, Navigations, Night Diving, Buoyancy, Boat, Drift and Computer.
The centre offers a Junior Open Water Dive course for children over the age of 10. The Bubble Maker course is also available at the centre for children over the age of 8, this takes place in the pool which has the maximum depth of 2m.
