Three thousand years ago, in the fertile, sun-drenched lands of Mexico and Central America, the Maya created a civilization that knew no equal. They built magnificent cities, developed extensive trade tours and fashioned ceremonial centers that arched toward the heavens. Today the 1500-mile-long “Maya Route” runs down the length of the Yucatan Peninsula, crosses the jungles and mountains of Guatemala and loops through verdant Belize.
Cozumels reefs are located in a National Marine Park. Diving in Cozumel is mainly drift diving. Your dive master will lead you and there is a choice of gentle or more fast paced dives depending on conditions. The majority of sites are between 10 to 50 minutes by boat. Also there is also the option for unlimited shore diving at our recommended dive resort, Scuba Club Cozumel. You can also explore the wreck of the Felipe Xicotencatl located very close to the resort.
Shore diving at the resort is off the ironshore straight onto the limestone wall with depths of 5 to 8 meters. Here you can see many juvenile reef rish, crabs, optopus and lobster plus the occasional seahorse so ideal for macro photographers. Night diving here is highly recommended.
