Safaga, Red Sea and Middle East

Safaga offers scuba diving holidays for beginners, novices and more experienced divers with great reef diving, wrecks to explore and a superb location. Safaga is a small, peaceful and informal resort on the northern edge of a perfect crescent sandy bay, sweeping some five miles across crystal waters. Along the length of this stunning beach are various hotels, with the Hotel Shams and Imperial Shams at the best locations.

Diving
The reef diving off Safaga is of the highest quality primarily due to excellent conservation work and the fact that the reefs are a good distance from the shore. There is also the wreck of Salem Express and the infamous Brother Islands to be explored. Gentle conditions close to the bay offer pretty coral gardens and shallow dive sites. Further out you can enjoy thrilling wall diving. See hammerheads in spring and mantas in winter time. Tobia island offers pinnacle diving with gorgionians, blue spotted rays, morays, giant pufferfish and a range of marine life such as sergeant majors, this easy dive is also suitable for snorkellers. Culture and Activities
Located about 30 miles south of Hurghada, it offers not only numerous diving bases but is arguably one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing spots. Spacious sandy beaches extend around the deep sea port of Safaga, with choice of 3*, 4* or 5* beach resort hotels in the best location. From here you can travel west through the low range of mountains and across the Sahara to the ancient town of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings to experience some of Egypt's ancient history. The contrast between the azure and turquoise colours of the ocean and desert landscape make this area an impressive holiday setting.
