For your diving holiday to Dominica, Caribbean, the luxury 4* Fort Young Hotel overlooks the Caribbean Sea and has the dive centre based at the hotel.
Location
Set on the cliff edge overlooking the Caribbean sea on the outskirts of the Capital, Roseau (approximatelya 5-10 minute walk) and approx 90 mins from the main airport (Melville Hall). A good location to trek up to the mountainous landscape and visit the rainforest and waterfalls from behind the hotel.
Accommodation
Built around the walls of the old 18th-century fort, the public areas retain many original features. This well run and elegant colonial style hotel has 71 air-conditioned rooms and suites, all with air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable flat screen TV, in room safe box, telephone, mini fridge and en-suite shower and WC with free Wi-Fi.
Standard Guest Rooms offer double or queen size bed and balcony or terrace with partial seaview, bath with shower over and terrace or balcony.
Fort Rooms are located on the original building of the Fort with a terrace or balcony and twin double or king sized bed.
Oceanfront Rooms are located in the newest part of the hotel, facing the Caribbean Sea with a balcony over the water, modern decor, one king size bed or two double beds, bath with overhead shower. Four of the Ocean front rooms can inter-connect with an adjoining room.
Deluxe Oceanfront Rooms have one king size bed or two double beds and are larger rooms, relaxing lounge area and with balcony over the sea.
Oceanfront Suites offer a spacious suite with a separate bedroom with king sized bed, two bathrooms, dining/sitting area, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker, whirlpool tub and a large balcony overlooking the ocean.
Facilities
The hotel has a choice of 4 restaurants. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available at the Palisades Restaurant terrace restaurant with a wrap around veranda, overlooking the sea. Breakfast includes continental, american and local creole options, snack menu and dining menu with vegetarian dishes. The Warners B on the boardwalk and Balas Bar offer cocktails and a snack menu throughout the day and evening. There are Manager's cocktail evenings, live steel pan music and fun cocktail hours during the season. The infinity swimming pool has a sundeck with jacuzzi pools. There is a fitness centre, spa and wellness centre offering range of therapeutic treatments such as reflexology and swedish and sports massage. Onsite duty free shops offer a chance to buy perfume, liquor, jewellery and cosmetics. The hotel has it's own jetty with mooring. You can also hike through the rainforest or to the volcanic sulphur pits with birdwatching and whale & dolphin trips arranged locally by the hotel on request.
Diving
Daily boat diving and shore diving packages. Whale watching trips are available from the hotel jetty by arrangement. Please check before booking whether your planned trip is in the whale watching season.The local dive centre will pick up and drop off as part of the package from the hotel. More >

Our Opinion
This is the best hotel in the main capital of Rouseau offering casual and fine dining, atmospheric bar, swimming pool and excellent PADI dive centre on-site. The Ocean View rooms are worth upgrading to.
