Blue Lagoon Resort
Truk Lagoon, Micronesia and Pacific
For your diving holiday to Truk - Micronesia & Pacific, Blue Lagoon Resort is situated on the southern tip of Weno Island with an established dive centre onsite and dive boats departing from the hotel jetty.
Location
Approximately 5km, or half an hour’s drive from Chuuk International Airport, the Blue Lagoon Resort is set amongst coconut palms on a sandy beach, a stone’s throw away from arguably the best wreck diving worldwide at Chuuk Lagoon.
Accommodation
The Blue Lagoon Resort consists of 54 comfortable air-conditioned rooms, each with a private balcony and beautiful ocean view overlooking Truk Lagoon. The hotel is positioned over two storeys, with single and double standard rooms on the ground floor and superior rooms above. Deluxe suites are also available. Each room has two double beds, a telephone, refrigerator, WC, bath and shower as standard.
Facilities
An island style restaurant serves food throughout the day from a comprehensive menu, with picturesque views from the dining room. A range of local seafood, as well as Western, Pacific and Asian cuisine is on offer, including vegetarian options. Other special meal requests are subject to availability, and should ideally be made prior to arrival. For those who wish to have their lunch whilst out and about, picnic style/packed lunches are also available. This is a popular option for guest divers who would like to have their lunch on Fonomu Island, Jeep Island or in a shaded hut on Etten Island.
During WWII the Imperial Japanese Command utilised what now forms the Blue Lagoon Resort grounds. Despite now being transformed into lovely gardens, many wartime relics and structures still remain to this day, including armament and defensive pillboxes.
Relax after a day’s diving in either of the two bars at the Blue Lagoon – the lounge bar, open during the afternoon, and the outside ‘sunset bar’ by the jetty, a perfect setting to watch the sun go down, open until 12am. Wifi is available in the lobby area, and a computer centre is located next to reception. Flat screen TVs are situated in the lounges. There is also a small gift shop stocked with souvenirs and mementos. A round trip airport transfer is available at an additional cost.
Diving
The Blue Lagoon Dive Centre is located on site with dive boats departing from the hotel jetty. Emphasis is placed on diving according to divers’ preferences, with a large fleet of dive boats but small diver numbers ensuring you can enjoy all Truk has to offer with few divers around you.
For non-divers, or those wishing to take in some of the alternatives Truk has to offer, the hotel can arrange many tours and trips, such as visits to historic and cultural sites, as well as overnight stays on Jeep and Fonumu Islands. There are kayak and scooter rentals available, as well as the opportunity to try your hand at ‘Chuukese’ style fishing! Finally, a must-do for all guests is snorkelling in the shallow reefs of the lagoon right in front of the resort.
Note: Flights to Truk necessitate an overnight in Guam on the outbound and return journeys.
