Location
The resort is located on the Eastern side of Malakal Island, sheltered by the Ngaremeduu Bay Conservation Area and providing extensive views over the ever-stretching Pacific Ocean. It is less than half an hour’s drive from Koror International Airport, and around 10 minutes from downtown Koror, where numerous tourist attractions can be found such as the Palau National Museum.
Accommodation
The Palau Royal Resort offers 157 modern rooms designed with comfort and functionality in mind. All rooms benefit from private balconies which, especially at higher floors, offer remarkable views over either the peaceful harbour or breathtaking sparkling ocean. Lower floor guest rooms look over the lush greenery of the hotel gardens. Each of the wide variety of comfortable air conditioned guest rooms offer an ensuite bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, alarm clock, refrigerator, kettle, in-room safe, hairdryer, slippers, sewing kit and tea and coffee making amenities. Each en suite includes a range of toiletries and there is free wifi available for guests in both rooms and the bar and restaurant.
Facilities
The Palau Royal Resort offers all-day dining with an extensive menu at its Waves Restaurant, set back behind the private white beach. The international cuisine on offer caters to all tastes, and the fresh cakes and pastries made by the hotel’s pastry chef are particularly popular with both guests and locals. The resort also benefits from two bars – the Coral Bar, an elegant indoor bar surrounded by leafy gardens, and the Breeze Bar, an open top beach bar providing the perfect setting to watch the sunset over the shimmering sea.
The Palau Royal Resort benefits from a range of facilities exclusive for guests. One of the highlights is the private white beach lined with palm trees at the front of the hotel, offering a safe and relaxed way to swim or snorkel in the bay, where several types of coral, small fish and shore clams can be spotted. There is also a private swimming pool in the hotel’s grounds, as well as tennis court and ground golf. Inside there is a recreation room providing a range of entertainment with two pool tables and table tennis. There is also a mini-fitness gym and the Mandara luxury spa providing the perfect place to unwind. A specially designed Kids’ playroom ensures the children will be kept entertained, and there is also a gift shop with a selection of authentic Palau-made souvenirs which make ideal gifts for friends or family back home.
There is complimentary luggage storage and key custody service located at reception, and the hotel provides an airport transfer for $20 each way. Rental cars are also available at Palau airport. Alternatively, there is a local bus service circulating around downtown Koror with a weekly ticket available from the hotel reception for $8.
